The Owcharuk 5 celebrates the release of their new CD, Kobzar. Michael Owcharuk (piano/accordion) and longtime collaborators Beth Fleenor (clarinet), Jim Knodle (trumpet), Nate Omdal (bass), and Cody Rahn (drums) recorded two original compositions and seven original arrangements of Ukrainian folk songs and dances. The music is a mix of Ukrainian folk music, jazz, and punk rock, that runs the gamut between tightly orchestrated and freely improvised.
