Seattle Symphony, in collaboration with the 2009 Earshot Jazz Festival, presents These Hills of Glory, for string quartet and improvising soloist, with violinist Carla Kihlstedt (Tin Hat, Fred Frith's Cosa Brava,Two Foot Yard, John Zorn) and odeonquartet, a world-renowned string quartet featuring members of the Seattle Symphony.

The program will also include two world premieres - For Piano Alone in Four Parts (2009), composed by Wayne Horvitz and performed by pianist Cristina Valdes, and Carry Over (2009), composed by Robin Holcomb, performed by odeonquartet.

Also featured on the program are Horvitz' works, Thursday, At Dusk, in Spokane, Washington, for clarinet and piano, and Inside Morning, for flute and piano. The concert will conclude with an improvisation by Horvitz and Carla Kihlstedt. A discussion with the composer, moderated by composer/writer Chris DeLaurenti, will precede the performance.
